Holy Trinity, Lyne and Longcross was built in 1849. It is a small cruciform church of stone, of 13th-century design, with a central tower.
If anyone has more history of the church I would be grateful for a pointer.
Parking is available in a layby opposite the church. The listed co-ordinates take you to the Lych gate. Above your head you will see the year ABCD.
The cache is at N51 22.B(A+C+D)B W000 32.(A+D)(C-A)(C-A)
Temporarily subtract 1 from the northings and 7 from the westings.
The cache is only about 250 metres away, in woodland, but there is no direct route to it. I have listed a series of waypoints.
The first is at N51 23.056 W000 32.664. This is where you leave the main road for a small lane. If you wish to minimise the distance you walk you should be able to park near the entrance to the lane. The distance from here to the cache is about 350 metres.
The second waypoint is at N51 23.023 W000 32.459. This is where you leave the lane and enter the woods.
The third waypoint is at N51 22.989 W000 32.461, within the woods.
Bring your own pen - the cache is starting out its life with a stubby pencil, but these have a habit of disappearing :-) .
When you have found the cache, you should look for the answer to a question for a "bonus" Church Micro 2364 St. Matthew's, Ashford. Make a note of the material the cache is made of. NOTE: as the cache is unavailable, the answer you need is "plaster".
