(You should be able to get close enough from outside the churchyard to "trigger the zone").
Lydiard Park becomes 19th century Missouri, USA, as you join Tom Saywer and his friends on a little adventure. You will need to complete several tasks on the way, and if successful, you will find the hidden treasure (the cache!).

It should take you around 1.5 hours, and is about 3 miles - all within Lydiard Park. You can reach all stages of the game with a good "all terrain" pushchair, though the final location needs a short scramble off trail.
New to Wherigo? Think of it as a Multi-cache, but with an interactive element to go with it. You just need a compatible device. There are many, they include: Garmin Oregon/Colorado, iPhone (using Wherigo app), Android (using WhereYouGo app), and Pocket PCs with GPS. Give it a try! Get a new icon!
There is sound at some points, so turn up your volume! On the Garmins you will just get beeps when entering a zone, but with an iPhone/Android (or other device which can play audio files) you will be able to hear from some of the characters. The sound is NOT essential to play the game, it just adds to the experience.
If you are successful, you will be given a completion code which will allow you to mark the game complete on wherigo.com ("unlock" is the terminology used). This step is optional as far as this geocache goes - if you find the cache, log a find.
In your logs, please mention the device you used. It should work on all compatible devices. So far it has been tested on:
- Garmin Oregon (though one person had trouble using a Oregon 450) - iPhone (Wherigo app) - Android Phone (WhereYouGo app)
If you haven't found them already, there are several other caches in the park. As this Wherigo will take you near many of them, you might want to have 2 devices and look out for the other caches as you go.
Finally - please note the park hours. The grounds of Lydiard Park are open every day (except Christmas day) until dusk. (Specific closing time is posted at the entrance, which varies throughout the year). Entry to grounds is free, however currently there is a charge for parking. Also note that one stage will require you to enter the churchyard. When I set this cache, I always found this open. However, recently it has been locked. Visitors to Lydiard House can sign out the key to the church at the ticket desk, during house opening hours, Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 5pm when the church is not in use for services. Note you do not need to enter the church, but you do need to enter the churchyard.
Dogs are allowed with their walkers, if under control.
