jonboy: I'm archiving my caches because I've lost interest in Geocaching and don't want to leave a bunch of abandoned caches in my name.

Geocache Description:

This hike entails a short hike on a marked trail in Merestead County Park.

Merestead, which is Scottish for farmland, is a 130 acre estate centered on a 1906 Georgian Revival mansion built by William Slone, of the W & J Sloane Home Furnishings. It was bequeathed to Westchester County by Margaret Sloane Patterson and her husband, Dr. Robert L. Patterson, and became a county park upon Margaret’s death in 2000.
There is still a collection of art and a fine garden available for viewing by appointment. The fields are mowed and the estate maintained. There is parking across the road from the main house, near the Old Carriage House and there is a network of trails maintained by the NY/NJ Trail Conference. (visit link)
The cache can be found along the blue trail. It has room for only small items.
