This is the third of the 3-part "Frankenstein Series." Being a horror movie buff, I thought that I would dedicate a series to all monsters of the movies. I'm trying to keep them in proximity to the Taconic State Parkway for the commuter crowd (who keep a pair of boots in the trunk). They're not all park-and-grabs, but they are all accessible on the Taconic corridor.
Each of the three caches are of different sizes. This is the big-boy of the group.
This cache is in nearly a mile (.9 miles) from the trail-head on Wiccoppee Road in the Putnam Valley Trail system. It's not in Fahnestock Park, but it is adjacent to it and the trail leads into the Fahnestock Trails. So if you are hiking in from the Fahnestock Trails from Route 301, it can be accessed from there as well (with a GOOD hike).
The cache is a brief hoof into the wood with some light bushwhacking. It's a well-camouflaged plastic screw-off container. It's stashed well, but it's big, so I only rated it a "2." If I'm off, let me know, I'm still pretty new at this.
Good luck and happy hunting! The FTF prize is inside along with hand warmers, fingernail clipper & file, tape measure, carabiner/bottle-holder and misc tchotchkes.
