This is a virtual cache. There is no cache container. The reward
for finding it is a glimpse into the past and some quiet
contemplation. Stop here and find out what famous settler and
explorer groups passed this spot. Find out about the California
Emigrant Trail and Hastings’ Cut-Off at this location.
No traveling in comfortable climate controlled vehicles with
tunes and a “bag-o-burgers” in their lap for those folks! You may
find yourself thinking, “Wow! Those people could have used some
mapping software and a GPS!”
This is also the area that an interpretive center may be
constructed in the near future.
***IMPORTANT*** To protect the integrity of our sport and
prevent unscrupulous “find-logging,” you MUST post a picture with
your log of yourself in front of the kiosk (or a picture of the GPS
receiver you used to find it, sitting on the plaques at the cache
site) to log this site as a “FIND.”
Most photo developing places have the option for including
digital images on a floppy or CD-ROM with development. They offer
various resolutions for use with the web or printing. Many film
developing places and office supply/services stores also have the
ability to scan photos and put them on disk for you or post them to
a website where you can retrieve them. Most digital cameras have
different resolution or quality settings for producing pictures for
the web or printing.
If you’ve never posted a picture with a log, this will be a good
new experience for you. You will be given the opportunity to upload
your picture when you’re logged in and logging your find.
*Pictures must be less than 100kb or they will not upload.
(320x240 pixels [3.2x 2.4 inches] @ 75 to 100 dpi works well for
most pictures.)
