Geocache Description:

This is my first cache and is located near the Lady Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes.  You will not have to enter the cemetery to retrieve the cache which is a camouflaged Lock-n-Lock.   My Dad (CyclonicKWF) helped me place the cache.  We had just visited the overlook for the Kentucky Penitentary.  As we left, my Dad wanted to continue on down the road to check this cemetery out.  Upon arriving we were surprised to not find a cache already here given the beautiful view and interesting cemetery.  To It is a very easy drive.  If you decide to venture into the cemetery you will come across the the graves of the Lady Family near the entrance.  Also there is a marker and several stones for the slaves of the Lady Family toward the North end of the cemetery.

Henry Lady was the patriarch of the family.  He was married to Martha.  They had three sons:  Henry, Robert, and Warrick.  In Henry's will it is stated that the older sons Henry and Robert would be given the land "below the lane" while Warrick would take charge and manage the land "above the Lane", that was bequeathed to his "beloved wife", Martha.

If you look at older maps of Land Between the Lakes when TVA had control you will notice that this portion was not part of LBL.   Instead of selling the land to TVA the families owning this land gave the land directly to the US governement to keep it out of TVA's control.

We hope you enjoy visiting the "Lady Cemetery Cache" in Land Between the Lakes.
