The 4th Annual Mid-Winter Flash Mob Event
THEME: Micro Gift Exchange
Note the gift exchange is not required to attend this event. You
can show up and participate in the photo if you like and get credit
for the event.
DESCRIPTION: Prior to attending the event, hide a
Goodie/Gift somewhere within 1.0 miles of the Event Location. The
gift can be whatever you like... gift card, unactivated geocoins,
TB dog tags, swag items, cache containers... etc. It can have a
Winter or Geocaching theme if you would like but that is not
required! Be sure you come early enough to hide your gift and make
it to the event on time. Gifts should be between $10-$20 in value.
The total price should include the value of the container if the
container can be used in the future as a geocache container. Place
your gift items in a weather proof container (i.e. Ammo Can,
Tupperware, lock & lock, gift tin, Film Canister, etc.) and
hide it to be found later that day. You may fill the container with
edibles, but please be sure the container is critter-proof. BE SURE
to mark and write down the coordinates for the location of your
hide and include these coordinates inside the Micro container with
your geo nick. (These are just coordinates for finding this
treasure, coordinates should NOT be submitted or published!) The
Gift should be picked up by the recipient directly after the Event.
If participating in the Gift Exchange, you must bring a Micro
Container to the Flash Mob event with the coordinates of the hidden
gift and your geocaching nick included inside the micro for the
Gift you hid for this Event. The micro container can be anthing the
size of a standard conventional geocaching micro container (Film
Canister, Cammo'd Pill bottle, bison tube, etc). The recipient will
own the micro container afterwards, so, please note that the cost
of the micro should not be taken into consideration of the total
gift cost. At the event, the Micro Containers will be placed in a
container and mixed up. Everyone who places a Micro container in
the bowl will then be able to randomly choose another Micro
Container from the bowl. For those families with multiple cachers,
you may certainly participate as many times as you would like ~
just bring one Micro Container with coordinates and geocache nick
for each Gift you hide. Be creative in your container and in hiding
your Gift. Use your imagination and have fun! NOTE: All hides
should be Traditional Geocache container hides. No Puzzles or
Mystery Geocaches please. You want your geocacher to find the
cache. Please hide it, but dont hide it in a way you think there
may be a possibility of the recipient not finding it. After the
group photo, the event will be over and you should head out to find
your Gift. Remember... the entire gift (micro, gift container and
gift contents) is yours to keep, so make sure you take everything
with you after the find! These containers are placed only for the
Gift Exchange portion of the event and NOTHING should be left
behind by the finder.
When you log the event as Attended, please thank the cacher who hid
your Gift. You may share what your Gift included, if you like. You
can even post a picture of the container and hiding spot since this
is not a regular cache hide. Remember... the Flash Mob & Micro
Gift Exchange is a 15 minute event ~ so don't be late!
PLEASE post a Will Attend and indicate how many people will be
attending as well as if you are planning to participate in the Gift
Exchange (and how many times, if more than once). E-mail me if you
have any questions concerning the rules.
SCHEDULE:
Event Time: 12:00 PM
Photo Time: 12:15 PM
we will have approximately 15 minutes to place all micro's in a
holding container at the posted coordinates, register the names of
those participating on a sheet of paper, and then step through
those names and have each of them draw a micro from the holding
container. Come prepared, and come ready to move fast.
Don't forget to check out the other events happening in the area
on the same weekend, hosted by other members of the Blueline
Geocachers Association.
