During the months of May and June 2012, the owner of this cache, alpha Ori, carried out astronomical observations of the Southern skies with his telescopes here in Helmeringhausen. On that occasion, the place got equipped with this cache. The results of the observations are published here.
Helmeringhausen is not a town or a village, it is merely a settlement. It consists of literally only a petrol station, a shop and a farmhouse hotel and measures only 400x400metres.
The immense interest and support of the Basler family, who own the farm Helmeringhausen made it possible to enjoy the not light-polluted nights and bring the cache to life. Regardless whether you are a short-term or long-term visitor to the settlement or even a passer-by, this cache is for you.
As always, look out for muggles to avoid spoiling the hide, especially from opposite side of the street. The cache can be reached from public land. No need to climb over fences or gates. Technically, the cache is located on the boundary to the private property of farm Helmeringhausen. Permission has been granted by the owners to place this cache and for you to search from public grounds. The owners are very friendly and open to cachers. If you have trouble finding the cache, just go into the hotel reception and ask for an additional clue... but for 95% of you guys out there this will not be necessary.
Initially, the cache contains 5 travel bugs and a set of laminated cards with astronomical pictures. They have all been taken by the owner during observations in Europe. Each finder of the cache may take one such card for a souvenir... if you care. Please take one at maximum. Once they run out it will be virtually impossible to put in new ones. The owner will be back to Europe by that time.
Long distance maintenance will be carried out by the owner of the cache with the support of the Basler family.
