Are you regular in your habits?! Read on!
This set of three caches builds on the excellent Challenges set by The Threlkeld Family, where cachers have to show their speed and determination for finding caches over a 24-hour period. To qualify for their Challenges, cachers had to find 25 caches in a day for Bronze (GC2WN74), 50 caches in a day for Silver (GC2WN7C), and 100 caches in a day for Gold (GC2WN78). They could be regarded as the sprint events.
To qualify for the “Endurance” Challenges, you must demonstrate your regular commitment to Geocaching over the longer term, by finding a certain number of caches for each date of the month, for all months added together. You can find this information on the statistics page of your profile where the totals for each date are given in the bottom line of the table showing Finds for Each Day of the Year.
The Endurance Challenges will not appeal to everyone! If you have no interest in the numbers, these Challenges are not for you! However, you may wish to rise to the Challenges if you share the view of The Turner Tribe, whose profile information states - It's not about the numbers, they just happen to increase while you are out having fun.
The Caching Olympics Endurance Challenge is split into three separate levels, each based on the numbers of caches people have found on 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc etc of the month, for all dates 1st - 31st, for all months added together. The requirements for each level are set out below.
To qualify for The Caching Olympics Bronze Endurance Challenge you must find at least 25 caches for all dates 1st to 31st of the month, for all months added together. This gives a minimum total of 775 caches, i.e. 25 X 31 caches.
To qualify for The Caching Olympics Silver Endurance Challenge you must find at least 50 caches for all dates 1st to 31st of the month, for all months added together. This gives a minimum total of 1,550 caches, i.e. 50 X 31 caches.
To qualify for The Caching Olympics Gold Endurance Challenge you must find at least 100 caches for all dates 1st to 31st of the month, for all months added together. This gives a minimum total of 3,100 caches, i.e. 100 X 31 caches.
Nobody is this regular in their caching habits, of course, so people qualifying for these caches will probably have found many more than the minimum number of caches for each level set out above.
We qualified for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Endurance Challenges a while ago. As of 8th December 2011, our total finds for all months taken together ranged from 142 on the 31st of the month, up to 313 on 22nd of the month.
As with all Challenges, there are just a few rules.
1. You must demonstrate that you have qualified to collect this cache. Ideally, you will have your Groundspeak statistics page displayed so that we can check the relevant table. If you have chosen not to display your statistics, you should post a screen shot of the relevant table or use some other means of verifying that you have completed the challenge.
2. All past finds count, including caches that have subsequently been archived. This means that there will be some cachers who are immediately eligible!
3. All cache types count, including events. Any terrain. Any difficulty. Anywhere in the world.
4. It must be a Groundspeak cache.
5. Found logs that don't qualify will be deleted.
Once you have found the required number of caches you can claim a find at the given co-ordinates where you are looking for a small clip-lock box. Please bring your own pen/pencil.
