Simple Wherigo Cache

This cache has been archived.

JL_HSTRE: The old shortcut to the final is almost impassable, probably deliberately by the park. The old host log is falling apart. It had a good run as the park's first Wherigo.

Container has been removed.

Wherigo is a program developed by Groundspeak that allows users to visit virtual stages and move virtual objects by playing a file (called a "cartridge"). Compatible devices as of Jan 2011:

  • Garmin Colorado, Oregon, or Nuvi 500
  • most GPS-equipped Pocket PCs
  • iPhone or iPad using the Wherigo app
  • Droid using the WhereYouGo app

There are over 30 active Wherigo caches in Florida. If you can deal with programming using Groundspeak's Wherigo Builder program or a similar program, it is possible to create some very interesting caching experiences. More commonly, Wherigos are used for "walking tour" caches. Since the questions are all on the cartridge it avoids the paperwork required by multicaches that provide a similiar tour.

There are 3 virtual stages to visit where the cartridge will ask you an easy multiple choice question. The 4th and final stage with the logsheet will be unlocked after all questions are answered. The entire trip from Stage 1 to the Final is less than 1 mile.

In keeping with the musical theme of CP6...

"Simple" is the first track off the self-titled album by Georgia alternative rock band Collective Soul. Their debut album "Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid" was originally released as a demo in 1993, but it became a hit thanks to the single "Shine". The band was signed by a major record label and the demo was re-released as a proper studio album. Seven more studio albums have followed, most notably "Collective Soul" (1995) and "Dosage" (1999). Their hits from the late 90s include "Where The River Flows", "The World I Know", "Smashing Young Man", "Heavy", "Run", and "Tremble For My Beloved". The band's success had peaked by 2000, but they remain active today. A few of their better post-"Dosage" work includes "Why Pt. 2" and "Better Now". But don't worry: you wont need to know anything about Collective Soul to complete this Wherigo cartridge.

Special thanks to the folks on the Groundspeak Forums' Wherigo section - especially moderator RangerFox - for their substantial help in making this Wherigo work.
