[FIN] Perinteinen kätkö Posion Korouomassa Pirunkirkon kallioluolassa.

[ENG] Traditional cache in the Pirunkirkko cave in Korouoma Gorge.

[FIN] Kätköpaikka sijaitsee Korouoman rotkolaaksossa Metsähallituksen ylläpitämällä luonnonsuojelualueella. Joudut kävelemään kätkölle n. 2 km Koivukönkään parkkipaikalta. Kätkö on Pirunkirkon kallioluolassa, jonka suuaukolle joudut jonkin matkaa kiipeämään. Korkeiden kallioiden vuoksi satellittivastaanotto paikalla on huono. Rinne voi olla liukas kesälläkin erityisesti sateella. Ole varovainen tullessasi luolaan, sillä muutama metri luolan suuaukon jälkeen on syvä pudotus luolan pohjalle. Kätkö sijaitsee ennen pudotusta olevan paaden alla, joten luolan pohjalle ei tarvitse välttämättä laskeutua. Pohjalle laskeutuminen (ja sieltä takaisintulo) vaatii kohtuullisia kiipeilytaitoja tai köyden. Parikymmentä metriä pitkä luola kaartuu kallion sisässä oikealle ja sen toisessa päässä on aukko ulos, jota kautta ei pääse laskeutumaan tai kiipeämään ylös ilman kiipeilyvarusteita. Luolassa on pimeää; muista siis ottaa mukaan taskulamppu tai joku muu valaistuneuvo. Kätkörasiassa olevaa lamppua voit myös lainata; se ei ole vaihtotavaraa, joten älä ota sitä mukaasi. Kätkön läheisyydessä on laavu nuotiopaikkoineen.

Talvisin kätkö on lähes saavuttamattomissa. Lumikelillä vähällä lumella kätkölle kiipeäminen ilman jäärautoja ja hakkuja on hengenvaarallista. Paljon lumen aikana sisäänkäytävä on lumen alla. Tietä parkkipaikalle ei pidetä auki talvisin, joten kätköpaikalle pääsy silloin on haastavaa. Talvella voit yrittää lähestymistä hiihtämällä Saukkovaarasta (jonka parkkipaikalle pääsee talvisinkin) ylävirran puolelta. Silloinkin kannattaa olla varovainen Korojokea ylitettäessä. Kätköttäjä on kerran vajonnut sukset jalassa ja reppu selässä talvipakkaksella jokeen, ja poispääsy sieltä ei ollut ihan helppoa.

Korouoman rotkolaakso on Suomen oloissa ainutlaatuinen luonnonmuodostuma jyrkkine kallioseinämineen. Siellä yhteensä noin 40 km retkeilyreitistöä ja paljon tauko- ja leiriytymispaikkoja. Korouoma on myös kallio- ja jääkiipeilijöiden suosima kiipeilykohde.

[ENG] The cache is situated Korouoma Gorge. To get there you have to hike about 2 kilometers from the parking plot of Koivuköngäs. The cache is in the Pirunkirkko (Devil's Church) cave and to reach the entrance you have to scrample several meters. The slope could be slippery even in summertime. A few meters after the entrance there is a deep drop to the bottom of the cave. The cache is below the last rock before the drop, and it is not necessary to descent to the bottom of the cave. To reach the bottom you will need good climbing skills or a rope (or both). Inside the cliff about 20 meters long cave turns to the right and at the end there is another hole out. Is it not possible to leave the cave without climbing equipement via that way. It is dark in the cave. Thus, rememeber to take a torch with you. You may also borrow a head torch from the cache container. In the nearhood of the cache there is shelter and a fireplace.

In wintertime the cache is virtually unreachable. It is very dangerous to climb at the entrance of the cave without crampons and ice axes especially when there is only low amount of snow. The entrance is buried in the snow when there is a lot of it. The road is not kept open in wintertime and it is much more challenging to get at the cache.

Korouoma gorge with it high surrounding cliffs is a unique landscape in Finland. In the gorge there are about 40 kilometers of trekking trails, and lot of fire and camping sites. It is also a popular target for ice and rock climbers.
