10th Annual CITO Weekend

Saturday, April 14st, 2012
10:00am - 3:00pm

"Hot Tub from Space!" Overview:

For this year's project, we'll be working an area that has been in need of some 'heavy lifting' for quite a while. The satellite image to the left shows the area, and you can see the Hot Tub (near the top)!! Once we're done cleaning the area, we'll be able to see the results of our effort with the next satellite image taken. In addition, there are a number of discarded telephone poles, timber, windows, doors, and other various items. The Boulder County Open Space Rangers will be visiting the site ahead of us, cutting the telephone poles into moveable chunks for us. We will have a 40 yard dumpster for all the garbage, and two trailers available if we fill it up. This CITO will make you break a sweat, so be prepared.

As this year's event is over the lunch hour, we will be providing lunch for all volunteers. Chik-fil-A has come through for us and is sponsoring lunch!

Weather:
Weather in late April is usually warm and pleasant but can be unpredictable. There is very little shade in the area we'll be working, so please bring sunscreen, appropriate clothing, and plenty of water. This is a rain or shine event, so be prepared for whatever weather Colorado has in store for us.

Volunteers should bring:

Drinking water (1-2 liters per person)
Snack
Sunscreen
Work gloves (if you have them)
Hiking shoes/boots
Rain gear
Binoculars or camera (optional)

Boulder County will provide:
Extra large trash bags
Extra Work gloves
Extra Water
First aid kit

Who is Billzjeep?

Billzjeep began caching April 2001, logged 965 finds, had 5 hidden caches of his own, and was a recognized cacher in Colorado. He was unable to log his final finds because he passed away suddenly while geocaching with Jeeperz1&2 on March 6, 2004. Since his passing, Colorado has held a CITO event in his memory each year.
