Queen Elizabeth Park (Kapiti Coast) Traditional Geocache

This cache was originally placed by Donovan back in February 2001 and joins the list of some of NZ's oldest geocaches, being placed only seven months after NZ oldest current cache GC46 located in Wainuiomata. It was then adopted and maintained by Yeetrees for a number of years before SAROC accepted the responsibility of keeping it going in May, 2023. Hope you have fun finding this original geocache.

The terrain requires a gentle stroll.

The cash (Accuracy 4 m Elevation 9 m) is hidden in a 2.7 litre container with a few swaps as well as logbook and a pen, about 150 m south of the car park (S 40°57.405' E 174°58.234' Elevation 6 m). Simply follow the tram tracks to get there.

You may get to the car park from Sate Highway 1 by turning west at McKay's Crossing (S 40°58.219' E 174°58.885' Elevation 17 m) and continuing past the picnic areas to the end of the road (for about 2 km).

After finding the stash, you may like to visit the Lindale Centre (turn north-west off State Highway 1, about 8 km to the north-east of the McKay's turnoff, at S 40°54.307' E 175°01.319' Elevation 14 m). It is very touristy, but, they have a great selection of cheeses, icecreams, and honey products.
