Geocache Description:

This cache hunt brings you to Madam Brett Park in Beacon, NY. The parking area is on the other side of a one lane railroad overpass.

Madam Brett Park This park is named after the founder of Beacon, Catharyna Rombout Brett. It is a fairly small park for around here, 12 acres, with 1 mile trail. I've always loved waterfalls and this park has a beauty. If it's fishing season you might want to bring your pole because this park is right along the Wappingers Creek, with what seems to be some great fishing holes.

The first cache is a small decon container and holds the coordinates to the actual cache. The hike in to it is not long at all and mostly flat, but there are some obstacles to manuever that may not be appropriate for small children, and dogs may make your path a little harder but still doable. The new changes will have you exploring more of the park (probably close to a mile hike altogether) but all flat easy walking trails. The main cache is hidden in large clear rubbermaid container (approx 10x6x6). It's a small park with lots to explore, have fun! Please cover both caches well when rehiding!!

Scenic Hudson has plans for this land... "Future upgrades will provide a hiking/biking trail that links with the New York State Estuary Fishing Access and Greenway Trail and connects to Scenic Hudson's Beacon Landing and to Denning's Point/Hudson Highlands State Park." This park is amidst a dead industrial area, thanks to Scenic Hudson for preserving this area and trying to rejuvinate it's natural beauty. The old factory across from the parking area used to be an old hat factory back in the day when most every man and fashionable woman wore a hat.
