This walk is intended to link these four churches where caches are laid in the Herefordshire Village Churches series. See GC37HAN, GC37HBA, GC37HD1, GC37HCC.
This is one of several caches that we have placed along the Herefordshire Trail between the B4347 near Bacton and St Margarets Church and then on to Turnastone.
The route will take you to both Turnastone Church and St Margarets Church, but Bacton Church is half a mile uphill on a minor road from the trail on the B4347 . Vowchurch is less than half a mile from Turnastone .
The distance from the trail start near Bacton on the B4347 and St Margarets is just over 2 miles steeply uphill to begin with . The distance between St Margarets and Turnastone is also about 2 miles.
The section between St Margarets and Turnastone is quite hilly and steep in places with a very steep path through the woods which can be slippery and wet after rain. There are several stiles on both sections of the walk.
There is very limited roadside parking on the B4347 and further along towards Bacton Church. At the church itself parking is easier. St margarets Church has ample parking in the church grounds. Parking is also available at both Turnastone and Vow church. There is no vehicular access that we are aware of other than as described above.
We intended to make this a circular walk but due to the bad state of the other paths in the area thought this unwise. This can of course be done from either end. An ordnance map could be useful.
