LB01-1972 The Sticky Years Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Over 100 finds (and a few DNFs; sorry!) on this cache, but the series is past its sell-by date, always needed a lot of attention due to cheap cache containers - take note, series setters! - and had some other issues (reopening of train line and HS2 fears amongst them) so it's time to drop most of them. TCLN. Except a stick. Cheers again for all your logs! Thanks too to the group which came with me here to collect this one up. They didn't all sign the log, no, but I know they were here as the cache was found [:)]

Geocache Description:

The Life Begins cache series is an autobiographical trail set to celebrate - if that's the right word - my turning 40 in November 2011. Don't forget to answer the question in red on the log and make a note of the number! You should get four chances to get each figure in order to find LB40-Bonus!.

This cache: A traditional 'ICT' (Ivy Covered Tree) location but a less typical hide.

Biography: Living in Wicken in Northamptonshire, close to where Milton Keynes would be built, I've no clear memories of 1972. It would be around then that my brother was kept awake at night by the shadow in the shape of a Dalek though. In May I was christened in Passenham (looking like a young Phil Collins in the arms of my mum and Damien held by my godmother) and was given a bendy Mickey Mouse (which I later sold for 50p - I am an idiot) for my 1st birthday.

Wider world: 1972 was the year of velvet loons, the (first) launch of Crossroads, The Godfather and The Joy of Sex. Beards were clearly in fashion... Candles were too as it was the year of blackouts caused by the miner's strike. Columbo appeared on TV for the first time, with the late Peter Falk as the detective who just wanted to know "one more thing." Bruce Lee starred in Fist of Fury, the Osmonds got big, as did a card game called Uno. Michael Jackson had an afro almost as big as he was in 1972 too. Number 1 on my birthday: My Ding-A-Ling by Chuck Berry!

Where next: Follow the path to a small bridge on your left at the corner of the field before turning right before the hedgeline and following it to LB02. Once you're there if it's too big a step, overshoot for easier access.
