A simple off –set cache, placed as an off-set to satisfy separation requirements from a worthy nearby cache – GC1E90W.
At the turn of the last century London Bridge was being extended and so needed some more granite corbels. These were ordered from Sweltor quarry and 650 were cut shaped and delivered, these that remain alongside the former railway line that curves its way around Kings Tor were either surplus to requirements or judged to be unsatisfactory and were never collected. They have lain here since 1903 and look likely to remain here forever. By the mid 1960’s the extended London Bridge was deemed at capacity and a new bigger better bridge was commissioned. The bridge was taken down piece by piece and sold to a wealthy American businessman Mr Robert McCulloch for $2.5m, who had the bridge transported to Lake Havasu in Arizona where it was rebuilt and a canal diverted to flow under it. There is a popular theory that Mr McCulloch thought he was buying the more easily recognisable Tower Bridge though this is strongly denied by him.
Now to the cache. To collect this cache you need to visit the posted location and count the Corbels this is “A” now count the number of the Corbels that are more or less upright, this is “B” and the number that are lying flat or leaning at more than 45° this is “C”
