[FIN] Venkaan lähde sijaitsee Pudasjärvellä Vengasvaaran
itäpäässä. Lähteestä pohjavedet purkautuvat laajana hetteikkönä
Mertajokeen. Lähdepainanteen pohjalla kasvaa mm. harvinaista
lehtopalsamia. Lähteen reunalla on vanha tervahauta sekä vanhojen
sysihautojen jäänteitä. Alueelle pääsee Venkaantietä lännen
suunnasta Yli-Iin Tannilasta ja idän suunnasta Pudasjärven
Aittojärveltä, josta tuleva tie on osin huonokuntoinen, mutta
ajettavissa tavallisella henkilöautollakin.
Kätkö on small-kokoinen ja siihen mahtuu pieniä esineitä ja
kulkijoita. Talvellakin voi hakea, jos vain Venkaan metsätie on
aurattu. Pane kumisaappaat jalkaasi, ellet halua kostuttaa
jalkojasi. Kannattaa kiertää oikealta ja takaa tervahaudan
kautta.
[ENG] The spring of Vengas is located on the eastern end
of the hill Vengasvaara. Waters flows from the spring to the river
Mertajoki. There is an old tar hole on the edge of the spring. You
can drive to the cache site along road Venkaantie from the village
of Tannila on the west or from the village of Aittojärvi on the
east. The road from Aittojärvi is not in very good condition, but
if you drive very carefully it is drivable by a normal car.
The cache is small sized plastic box with some changeables. The
road is drivable also in the winter time if there is not too much
snow on the road. Cache site is quite wet, so it is recommended to
wear rubber boots.
