Geocache Description:

Located at Nichols Pond, a Madison County, NY park. For directions, see this parkmap.

Don Quixote's Dilemma (or, "So Many Windmills...So Little Time!") is an ammo box with some cheapo goodies. Judging from some of the entries logged perhaps it would be more appropriate to subtitle this cache "The Lady or the Tiger?" as the course you take can determine the the degree of difficulty as well as the dryness of your footwear.

Nichols Pond Park is the site of an ancient Oneida Indian stockaded village that was supposedly attacked by Samuel de Champlain in 1615. Whether this is the actual location of the battle has been subject to much debate. Regardless, most historians agree that the attack (wherever it occurred) led the Iroqouis to align themselves with the British, and is considered by many to be a turning point in the history of the New World. Across the road from the park is a historical marker at the location of a primitive geocache of sorts- pits where the Oneidas stored grains for the winter months. Walk down the hill to a spring where they got water.

The park has an observation platform that overlooks the pond which usually dries up in the summer months. There are two pavillions, tables, grills, and is a nice place for a picnic. Take some time afterwards and drive up the hill through the windfarm, constructed in the summer of 2001.
