The Little River runs Couso
embedded in a narrow valley bridging a gap quite pronounced. Its
particular importance was that for years, the forces of its waters
feed the machinery of mills.
Thanks to the great restoration carried out by the Cultural
Association of San Martino Couso and Forestry Comunidade Common
Man, have these old mills, some of nearly two hundred years old,
become an ethnographic gem for the enjoyment of all one who comes
to observe them.
Good also is information that has spread throughout the path of
both the mills themselves and the nature of the
place.
The restoration has been so good that some of the mills have
recovered its machinery and its operation is possible today but one
that has remained unchanged in order to assess the state of
abandonment in which hayaban. The most spectacular is undoubtedly
the so-called "Miller was" where you can see its large vertical
wooden wheel.
In descending the trail will pass through the "Poza do Muiño" a
small stone reservoir whose main purpose was to store water and
distribute it through channels to the mills below. Downstream reach
up to five mills have more: "Muiño Above" the "Muiño Pequeno", the
"Muiño Hair", the "do Pontillón Muiño" and "Novo Muiño" form this
unique set.
