Information is restricted and to YOUR EYES ONLY

A terrorist group infiltrated the Azores. Their objective, to kill as many people as possible.

Their means of attack: use of a biological agent/weapon introduced in the water supply of cities.

We have been informed their top saboteur is on site being covered by several terrorist sniper units on the terrain. Also, our last infiltrated agent on the island was killed yesterday while sending this last intelligence.

Without any other means of defence we call to YOU. Any geocacher on the island, WE NEED YOU.

Go to the given coordinates and acting as a geocacher tourist, follow the leads of our last agent on site and stop this threat. Find the poison and neutralize it.

YOU ARE OUR LAST LINE OF DEFENCE!!!

About the multicache

This multicache saboteur adventure inspired in the comics and pc games will lead you on a nature walking trail where you will pass by tunnels, waterstreams, cascades, high and slippery bridges and narrow paths on cliffs by two beautiful “Jurassic valleys”. On this places you will find water withdrawals for city use.

I did this trail with my kids BUT we are regular hikers so if you are entering this adventure always be aware of the terrain and watch your kids AT ALL TIME.

Gear you will need: the usual (clothe, boots, water, jacket, food) while on a walking trail plus some paper/pen and flashlight for the tunnels.

You will also need the cipher our contact sent us that can be used on stages 3, 4, 8 and 9:

How does the cipher work?

Imagine you are on a stage and you see the word CAT and the instructions are that first letter = X, second = Y and the third one is Z and you need to find the coordinates on

N X7º 44.6(Y+1)9

W (Z+5)º X0.986

So, you substitute the letters and get

N C7º 44.6(A+1)9

W (T+5)º C0.986

And so, using the cipher you will get:

N 37º 44.629

W 25º 30.986

And you can now, move to the next stage of the adventure.

This means that at any time if you decide to give up on the adventure just use the trail on the gps and return following forward or getting back. Simple as that. The trail is circular,meaning you take out from the car and will be finishing in the car.

Terrain rating the terrain rating is at maximum level (5) because this is not (yet) an official walking trail and also because due to the specific location you can make the adventure like a “walk in the park” or after some heavy rain “like a marine camp”. The rating is also due to the high slippery stone bridges and narrow paths. (DID I mentioned high slippery stone bridges?)

You have 10 stages (with the final one) and you can do it on one morning or in one afternoon. I took 3 hours for the 11.6 kms total adventure/trail. Anyone should do it on 5h at the most.

After the final stage follow the "escape route" and you will be back on the cars/wheels in 30 min, following a fast but beautiful route down.

Um grupo terrorista infiltrou-se nos Açores. O seu objectivo: matar o maior número de pessoas.

Os seus meios de ataque são o uso de uma arma biológica introduzida no abastecimento de água das cidades.

Fomos informados que o melhor sabotador deste grupo terrorista foi o escolhido para este ataque e está a ser coberto por várias unidades sniper terroristas no terreno. Além disso, o nosso agente infiltrado na ilha foi morto ao enviar estas últimas informações.

Sem qualquer outro meio de defesa apelamos à comunidade geocacher. A todos os geocachers na ilha, nós precisamos de vocês!

Vá até às coordenadas dadas e agindo como um turista geocacher para não levantar suspeitas, siga as pistas deixadas pelo nosso último agente no local e neutralize esta ameaça. Cuidado com os snipers.

Sobre a multicache

Esta multicache Saboteur - The ultimate mission em formato aventura, é inspirada, como já se apercebeu, em banda desenhada e jogos de pc. Esta aventura guiá-lo-á ao longo de um percurso pedestre (não homologado) que lhe mostrará túneis, ribeiros, cascatas, pontes altas e escorregadias e ainda caminhos sinuosos e altos passando por dois lindos “vales jurássicos”. É uma zona de captação e abastecimento de água às cidades dai a criação da aventura.

É possivel fazer este trilho com crianças MAS não aconselho. Se o fizer, cuidado permanente com o terreno e esteja sempre de olho nas crianças/adolescentes

Material necessário: o normal em caminhadas (roupa e calçado apropriado, impermeável, água e comida) e ainda um foco/lanterna e papel e caneta.

Também precisará desta cifra, que o nosso último contacto nos enviou, para as etapas 3, 4, 8 e 9.

Como funciona a cifra?

Imagine que está numa das etapas e encontra as letras CAT com as instruções de à primeira letra corresponder X, à segunda corresponder Y e à terceira corresponder Z tendo de encontrar as coordenadas para a próxima etapa com os dados abaixo.

Substituindo as letras pelas encontradas no local obterá

E substituindo estas pelos valores da cifra obterá:

Desta forma está em condições de conseguir avançar para a próxima etapa.

(Isto significa que a qualquer momento pode abandonar a aventura e usando o registo fornecido seguir em frente ou para trás seguindo-o até ao inicio, tão simples como isso. O percurso é circular, o que significa que parte e chega da aventura no local onde está indicado que deve deixar o carro.

Terrain rating Indiquei nivel 5 para o terreno pois este não é ainda um “trilho oficial”. Para além disso e devido à localização, tanto pode fazê-lo com uma perna às costas como na recruta lol. Um ponto ainda a ter em conta é o das pontes altas e escorregadias. (Já mencionei pontes altas e escorregadias?).

A multicache tem 10 etapas (contando com a final) e pode ser feita numa manhã ou numa tarde. Demorei 3 horas para percorrer os 11.6 kms da aventura/trilho. Penso que em passo mais lento ou normal 5h devem chegar no máximo para se tirar umas fotos etc

Depois de chegar à etapa final siga a "rota de fuga" e em 30 min chegará ao carro/rodas seguindo um caminho rápido e sempre descendente.
