This virtual cache is located in the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park near Marietta, GA. Maps of the area are available at http://www.nps.gov/kemo. You are rewarded with a great view of Atlanta, W. Cobb Co., and the N. GA Mountains. Bring a drink and a snack and enjoy!
Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign...
This multi-stage virtual cache is derived from the signs telling you the history of the Battlefield Area. Using the best possible route, the hike is around 3 miles total in length and is very steep in places. You can ride to the top (road closed on the weekends except for a bus). You will need to stay on the trail or the road the entire time. Do not cut through the woods off trail without obtaining park permission (you will not get it!)The clues below are arranged in order of ascending height. They are not in the best order for travel. Using orienteering skills, you must decide the best order to go to each location. I suggest printing the TopoZone Map and *using* it.

Be good hikers, this is a historical area.
Cheatham Hill, Pigeon Hill, Little Kenn. and Kennesaw Mtn. are full of history. Many men died here for their country. The earthen mounds or "Earthworks" are fragile; disturbing them causes irreparable damage. Look... no climbing. The earthworks run the entire length of the mountain and the trail follows them and crosses them. As you visit Kennesaw Mtn Nat'l Battlefield Park, help preserve its earthworks and historic landscape for future generations. ALL buildings, historic objects, geologic specimens, plants, and animals are protected by federal law. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times. My dog (J.C.) is always on his leash when we hike.
