Cache-tech: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have had no contact with the cache owner since my last note and there has been no notes posted to the cache page in that time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache.
When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link (Mine) across the top and then click on this cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Cache-tech

Geocache Description:

This cache is placed North West of Brampton near the Cheltenham Badlands. This area is a favourite of mine as I passed many a day during my misspent youth playing in the area. The Bruce Trail passes through here, and there are dozens of paths that branch off and cover the area, so plan to spend some time if you enjoy hiking. Also, the view of the surrounding countryside from the top of the hills is quite spectacular, and if it is a clear day you can even see the Toronto skyline.

The road that runs beside the area is hilly and narrow, so please don’t try to stop at the point where the cache is closest to the road as it could be dangerous. A wide shoulder is available for parking at N43.7742578, W079.9442949 and it is not a long hike from there to the cache. However, there are signs that requests that you do not climb up and down the Clay Hills, so it will be necessary to hike a little bit south before turning for the cache. There is a clearly visible path that runs along the southern edge of the hills and this will be your best bet to get to your destination.

The cache is in a 2.5L Rubbermaid container with a cream coloured lid. The original contents are as follows:

  • Toy compass
  • Fridge magnet clip
  • Tire pressure gauge
  • 2 souvenir Canada pens
  • Metal Canada key ring
  • 4 plastic key rings
  • Small clock (with battery)
  • Flashlight key ring (with batteries)
  • Miniature slinky
  • A new pack of playing cards
  • A mini screwdriver set
  • The log book with a pen and a mechanical pencil (plus extra leads)
  • And a Kodak disposable camera.
Please feel free to take a picture with the disposable camera, and note the picture number along with your entry in the logbook. Also remember that the disposable cameras count backwards, so if you pick it up and see that the counter says 12, it means that there are 12 pictures left.

This is a great area for the whole family, and I hope you will enjoy your adventures here. Note, the area can be muddy at times so bring your boots!
