Geocache Description:

A Night Cache around a small section of Irchester Country Park.

This is a Night Cache and therefore unlikely to be completed in daylight.....although you are welcome to try! The markers (Trail Tacks) are placed at head height or just above and therefore a powerful head torch is recommended, or a powerful torch held at head height

Co-ordinates are provided for on site parking although a £2.50 fee is applicable at all times, nearby free parking is also available.

Make your way to the published co-ordinates which should place you on a path opposite a shelter, from this point a quick scan of the area with a torch at head height should locate the first beacon to show you the way and the Trail Head, enter the wood at this point and follow the established path to start, from here on in the rules are simple:

YOU WILL NOT ALWAYS BE ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY SEE THE NEXT BEACON SO FOLLOW YOUR DIRECTION OF TRAVEL UNTIL A BEACON IN THE DISTANCE ALTERS YOUR COURSE.....THEREFORE YOU WILL NEED TO LOOK FORWARDS AND TO BOTH SIDES TO FIND YOUR WAY, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO LOOK BEHIND YOU, UNLESS YOU MISS ONE.

The final cache is marked with two beacons, pointing to the cache location and within 5m.

To exit you can either retrace you steps and follow the beacons out or just follow the way point to the car park.

There are tree roots and brambles etc underfoot in places so try not to trip up!!

The cache is a regular size screw top container in a waterproof green bag. It contains a load of tradeable items and has a pre made cache as a prize for the FTF.

I would recommend you don't do this alone, or if you do ensure someone knows where you are going and you have a mobile phone.

Many thanks to Northants County Council for allowing the placement of this Night Cache.
