Geocache Description:

The MnGCA 2011 Fall Event and Election will be held at historic Fort Snelling State park. We would like to express our thanks to the people at Fort Snelling for their generous donation of the shelter for this event.

Welcome to the
2011
MnGCA Fall Event and Election

The Fall 2011 Event Committee is pleased to announce the
MnGCA Fall Event and Elections will be held at:

Fort Snelling State Park on Saturday, October 15, 2011

Who:

This event is open to the public.You do NOT have to be a member of the MnGCA to attend this event. Veteran geocachers, newbie geocachers and people who just want to learn what geocaching is about are all welcome. Geocaching is a family oriented activity and so is this event. Bring the kids!

What:

A social event with lunch and geocaching activities. We will have prizes, games, caching, contests, kids caches and more kids activities listed below! There are several permanent caches in the park and maybe even a puzzle cache or 2.

When:

Saturday, October 15th, 2011
9:30AM to 5:00PM


Where:

Fort Snelling State Park
101 Snelling Lake Road
St. Paul, MN 55111


The park is located near the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Exit from Highway 5 on Post Road, and follow the signs into the park. Follow the signs in the park to the Picnic Island, and then the signs to Shelter A!


How Much:

As with all Minnesota State Parks, vehicle permits are required to enter the park.


Daily Permit - $5
Annual Permit - $25
Food, Fun, and Caching: PRICELESS! (aka FREE!)



LUNCH:
The MnGCA will provide burgers and hot dogs free of charge, but would appreciate if folks are willing to bring a potluck food offering to share. See more below!

Why:

Because it's just plain fun! This is a great chance to "cache" up with friends old and new!



SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES:

9:30 am - Noon

Check-In and Meet & Greet
If you are new to caching and need help let us know and we will find you a buddy to show you how the game is played!
At check-in be sure to:
1).Pick up your "BINGO Game Sheet" Complete and turn it in by 1:00
2). Name Tag
3). Sign the Event Log

9:30 am - 1:00

Geo Golf
As you stroll the park find the perfect spot for your "hole-in-one" and mark the coordinates on your gps. Once you return from the fairway, write your coordinates down on your "scorecard" and turn it in to the scorekeeper. You're hoping to have the closest match to the coordinates of our virtual "cup". The golfer with the lowest handicap wins!

9:30 am - 1:45

Creative Cache Container Contest
Bring your most creative cache container(s) to be judged by your fellow cachers. Prize will be awarded at 2 pm.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Kick the Can (of pork and beans) game! Contest
Exactly how it sounds, only slightly different.

10:00 am - found

Medallion Hunt!
Clues will be released periodically throughout the day (about every hour or so), first to find wins a prize!

Noon - 1:00 pm

LUNCHTIME: Maznroll and Rustynails be helming the grill this year, and the MnGCA will provide burgers (made by Butcher, the cacher), buns, plates, utensils, napkins, condiments, and cups.

Please help us with lunch by bringing and sharing potluck style. If your caching name starts with the letters:

A through E - please bring Appetizers/Munchies

F through N - please bring salads/soups/stews

O through T - please bring Desserts

U through Z- please bring Beverages
