La combe d'Arvaux ou encore appelée "combe des Mammouths" est situé non loin de Dijon, sur la commune de Lantenay. Orientée sud-nord, elle est composée, dans sa prairie terminale, de spectaculaires blocs de rochers.
La plupart de ces blocs, hauts d’une trentaine de mètres, présentent des formes très curieuses. L’un deux, complètement isolé et d’un aspect assez remarquable, porte le nom Pierre Vivante. La légende veut que tous les ans, le jour de Noel, à minuit, ce rocher tourne 2 fois sur lui-même. Donc cela mérite une cache…
Les falaises calcaires présentent un intérêt floristique avec notamment de nombreuses espèces rares adaptées au sol sec et à un microclimat chaud. Le fond de la combe est très boisé avec en majorité des résineux.
Le sentier qui longe le bord de la combe permet d’avoir de nombreux points de vue sur une bonne partie de la vallée de l’Ouche et sur la montagne dijonnaise, notamment le Mont Afrique (reconnaissable grâce à la tour de contrôle). Malgré la proximité de Dijon, l’ambiance est très sauvage.
L’exposition plein sud donne un cachet méridional au site. La combe révèle toutes ses richesses au printemps quand les odeurs des pins et du buis sont les plus envoûtantes.
Le site a été également aménagé pour les amoureux de l’escalade sur rochers.
Pour aller à la cache, je vous propose une petite randonnée de 1H30 environs pour un dénivelé de 160 m. Il est possible de s’aventurer en vélo également mais ATTENTION aux bords de falaises !!!!

Cette cache est une boite plastique de 6 x 6 x 3 cm qui contient des objets + évidemment un logbook et un crayon lesquels sont à laisser à l’intérieur.

It’s my 1st cache so be soft !!!
The Arvaux valley or otherwise called “valley of mammoths” is located not so far from Dijon, near Lantenay. With a South-North aspect it is made up of spectacular blocks of rocks.
Most of these blocks, tops of around thirty meters, present very curious forms. The one of them completely isolated and with a special aspect has the name Pierre Vivante (translation ? Stone alive). The legend says that every year the Christmas day at midnight that rock turns twice on itself. So it deserves a cache…
Calcareous cliffs present a floral interest with notably many rare species adapted to the dry ground and in a warm microclimate. The back of the valley is much wooded with for the most part conifers.
The path, which goes along the edge of the valley, allows having many panoramas on a good part of the valley of Ouche and on the mountain of Dijon in particular the Mount Africa (recognizable thanks to the control tower as a big antenna). In spite of the nearness of Dijon, the atmosphere is very wild.
The orientation directly south gives a Southerner aspect to the site. The valley reveals all its wealth in springtime when the smells of pines and box trees are the most enchanting/bewitching.
The site was also fitted out for the lovers of the climbing on rocks with cliffs well equipped.
To go to the hiding place (cache), I suggest you a small hike about 1 hour 30 min for one made uneven by 160 m (change of altitude). Furthermore it is possible to venture in with a bike but BE CAREFULL when we could be along the cliffs!!!

This cache is a box 6 x 6 x 3 cm made of plastic with items inside + obviously a logbook and a pencil, which are to be left inside.
