Geocache Description:

Hears a simple 2-stage multi cache designed with kids in mind. Kids of all ages. First find the small cache at the coordinates to get instructions for finding the second and final cache, which is a very short walk away. There's room for goodies, so bring something child-friendly to trade. Park hours are from 6 am to 9:30 pm daily. Please respect these hours! Sorry, no dogs and NO NIGHT CACHING!

The inspiration for this cache came from a video on the geocaching site about a geocacher in the Seattle area who goes by the name Dayspring. It is located at the Nature Discovery Center in Russ Pittman Park at Evergreen and Newcastle in Bellaire and is placed with their full cooperation. While there, feel free to take a stroll around the park. It's a natural oasis in this concrete jungle we call Houston. After visiting their Web site to get the link, we were amazed at all the nature classes and signed up for a one-hour tree identification class held on a Saturday morning. The Park's mix of prairie grasses, tall pecans, native understory and wide lawns is home to a variety of animals, from butterflies and beetles to squirrels and birds. During spring and fall migration seasons, over 80 species of warblers, vireos, orioles and more stop in for food, rest and water - giving us a great opportunity to see and photograph them.

The Nature Discovery Center offers science and nature programs for children, families, scouts, and schools. The Discovery Rooms are free and open Tues. through Sunday from 12 noon – 5:30 pm. Come by or check out the website: naturediscoverycenter.org
