A ALDEIA DO BÁRRIO

Sejam muito bem vindos à minha aldeia. Esta cache vai-vos levar a dar uma volta por onde passei praticamente toda a minha infância e adolescência (nas férias).

É uma aldeia calma com grandes tesouros, basta olhá-los bem e esta cache vai mostrar-vos talvez os mais importantes. Toda a gente é simpática e foi aqui que desenvolvi a minha capacidade de me querer dar com todos, pois não havia passeio que não tivesse pausas para conversar com os moradores. Tenham consciência que não deixa de ser uma aldeia e portanto vocês serão sempre olhados de lado primeiramente, mas dois dedos de conversa e verão que o povo do Bárrio quer é conversa.

É muito conhecida também pois temos de passar por aqui se queremos ir até à Nazaré vindos de Alcobaça, é este o caminho mais rápido e em termos de paisagens é também o mais rico pois esta aldeia ainda fica um pouco acima no nível da água do mar, como se pode ver no vértice geodésico existente.

Esta multi-cache foi feita de maneira a irem aprendendo à medida que forem passeando, quer nesta descrição, quer mesmo nos locais. Portanto à medida que for falando dos diversos tópicos, dou também as instruções para o ponto final. É dedicada apenas à aldeia, para a freguesia do Bárrio fica outra cache, talvez lá mais para a frente.

Os pontos não estão por ordem nesta listing. A razão disto é simplesmente porque não tinha lógica a história não ficar no inicio, por exemplo, portanto sugiro que façam pela ordem numerada para que não tenham de andar para trás e para a frente.

THE BÁRRIO'S VILLAGE

Be very welcome to my village. This cache will take you for a ride where I spent almost my entire childhood and adolescence (on vacation).

It is a quiet village with great treasures, just look at them as well and this cache will show you perhaps the most important. Everyone is friendly and it was here I developed my ability to talk with everyone, because there was no tour that did not pause to chat with the locals. Be aware that it is still a village and therefore you will always be looked away first, but a chat and see what the people want is conversation.

It is very well known because we have to come by if we want to go from Alcobaça to the Nazaré beach, this is the fastest way and in terms of landscapes is also the richest because this village is still a little above the level of sea water, as shown in existing geodesic station.

This multi-cache was done in a way to go learning as they are walking or in this description, or even in the own places. It is dedicated solely to the village of Bárrio.

The points are not in orde in this listing. The reason for this is simply because it was logical for history to stay in the beginning, for example, so suggested numbering it's for you not to have to walk back and forth.

A HISTÓRIA - [PONTO6]

A Villa Romana de Parreitas, na descida a caminho de Valado dos Frades, situada nas colinas do Bárrio e debruçada sobre a antiga Lagoa da Pederneira, é testemunho de uma ocupação humana que se estende entre os séculos I e IV, sendo herdeira de uma tradição que remonta desde o Calco lítico e se prolonga até à Alta Idade Média. Esta assunto está bem referenciado na cache que se encontra nessa villa, portanto visitem-na. Por isso também não vou entrar em mais detalhes, apenas dizer que a história começou bem cedo. Do que vos vou falar são histórias mais recentes, nomeadamente a independência da freguesia

Esta aldeia e as adjacentes pertenciam à freguesia da Cela mas, a 29 de Maio de 1933, o Bárrio iniciou um novo capítulo na sua história, constituindo desde esse mesmo ano a mais nova freguesia do concelho de Alcobaça. Sobre este capítulo da sua história, foi inaugurada a 3 de Junho de 2001, a Praceta Capitão Silva Mendes, senhor este que, como Governador Civil de Leiria, colaborou com o grupo de Barrienses que na época levaram por diante a criação desta Freguesia.

Neste local, no busto estão dois números (ABCD e EFGH). Na lápide que está no chão, está o decreto de lei da constituição da republica que abrigou a promulgação da freguesia do Bárrio (IJKLM). O valor Z vai ser:

THE STORY - [PONTO6]

The Roman Villa of Parreitas, downhill on the way to the Valado dos Frades' village, located in the hills of Bárrio and overlooking the old Pederneira's Pond, is a testimony of the human occupation that extends between the first and fourth centuries, being heir to a tradition dating from the Calco lithic extending to the Middle Ages. This issue is well referenced in the cache found in this villa, so visit it and I will not go into more detail, just saying that the story began early. What I'm going to talk about are more recent stories, including the independence of the parish.

This village and the adjoinings belonged to the Cela's Parish, but in May 29, 1933, the Bárrio's village began a new chapter in its history, being from that same year the newest parish in the municipality of Alcobaça. About this chapter in its history, was inaugurated on June 3, 2001, the Square of Captain Silva Mendes, this gentleman who, as Prefect of Leiria, collaborated with the group Barrio's townpeople which then led on the creation of this Parish.

O MUSEU - [PONTO5]

No edifício da Junta de Freguesia, pode encontrar o Museu Monográfico do Bárrio com a exposição permanente "Os Romanos em Alcobaça". Esta exposição pretende divulgar as origens da sua população. O conjunto de materiais arqueológicos expostos, vindos da "casa mais antiga" da Freguesia, procura ligar os actuais habitantes do Bárrio com antepassados há muito esquecidos. O horário é: 10h00 - 12h30 e 14h00 - 16h30 (dias úteis) e é gratuito.

THE MUSEUM - [PONTO5]

In the building of the Parish Council, you can find the Monographic Museum of Bárrio with the permanent exhibition "The Romans in Alcobaça." This exhibition seeks to show the origins of its population. The set of exposed archaeological material, from the "oldest house" in the Parish, seeks to link the current inhabitants of Bárrio with the ancestors long forgotten. The timetable is: 10h00 - 12h30 and 14h00 - 16h30 (weekdays) and it's free.

A EDUCAÇÃO - [PONTO2]

Esta é mais uma aldeia onde foi edificada uma escola no tempo de Salazar. Como podem reparar, esta escola tem duas grandes portas, uma em cada extremidade, e a razão disto é que antigamente os rapazes e as raparigas tinham aulas em salas diferentes e cada grupo entrava na respectiva porta. O segundo andar foi construído posteriormente para albergar a população em crescimento e esta escola ainda hoje funciona como escola primária.

THE EDUCATION - [PONTO2]

This is another village where a school was built in the time of Salazar. As you can see, this school has two large doors, one at each end, and the reason is that once the boys and girls were taught in different rooms and each group entered on it's own door. The second floor was built later to accommodate a growing population and this school still works today as a primary school.

A RELIGIÃO - [PONTO1]

Aqui encontra-se a Igreja Paroquial, mais conhecida por Igreja Nova. De salientar que no altar-mor está a imagem de S. Gregório Magno que veio da Ermida com o mesmo nome em Almarça (Ávila). É uma escultura quinhentista, com uma altura de 92 centímetros. O Padroeiro do Bárrio é precisamente S. Gregório, em honra do qual são realizadas, anualmente, as festas da freguesia. De salientar também o facto de o cata-vento deste igreja ser um dos vértices geodésicos desta aldeia denominado "Bárrio 2º". Perto da igreja estão duas homenagens a dois padres muito importantes para esta aldeia:

• O Padre João de Sousa, com um pequeno monumento dentro do recinto da igreja com azulejos, natural desta Freguesia levou por diante a construção da Igreja, vindo também a criar a Paróquia do Bárrio. Foi ainda mentor de várias iniciativas, todas no sentido do engrandecimento desta Freguesia.

• O Padre Búzio, com um busto do outro lado da estrada em frente ao centro social e paroquial do Bárrio, era um homem dinâmico, exemplar na sua relação com o seu povo, amou esta Freguesia e com ele levou este povo que jamais o esquecerá. Sempre respondeu presente e esta freguesia muito lhe deve.

Ao subirem as escadas para a igreja, no chão está um número (ABCD). Ainda ao nível da igreja, mesmo ao lado deste número, no monumento dedicado ao Padre João de Sousa, está uma data (EF-G-HI). Fora do recinto da igreja, do outro lado da estrada está um busto dedicado ao Pedre Búzio com um ano por baixo (JKLM). O valor de U vai ser:

THE RELIGION - [PONTO1]

Here is the Parish Church, better known as the New Church. Note that the high altar is the image of S. Gregory the Great came from the chapel with the same name in Almarça (Avila). It is a sixteenth-century sculpture, with a height of 92 cm. The Patron of Bárrio is precisely S. Gregory, in honor of which the festivities of the parish are held annually. You should also note the fact that the vane of this church is one of the geodetic stations of the village called "Bárrio 2". Near the church are two tributes to two very important priests to this village:

AS FESTAS - [PONTO4]

Antigamente faziam-se três grandes festas nesta aldeia, agora apenas há duas.

• Festa de São Gregório - No Domingo de Pascoela realiza-se a festa de São Gregório. Dizia-se que este dia era para os trabalhadores descansarem um pouco. Celebra-se Missa Solene seguida de procissão pelas ruas da freguesia com andores de santos e fogaças. As ruas estão sempre muito enfeitadas. Há também arraial com muitos jogos tradicionais, grupos de folclore e bandas de música. Esta festa realiza-se há muitas décadas.

• Festa de Nossa Senhora da Missão - Esta festa realiza-se no dia 15 de Agosto. Antigamente neste dia benziam-se os campos e agradecia-se pelas colheitas do ano. Agora, celebra-se uma Missa seguida de procissão onde se incorporam vários andores de santos e bolos. A seguir à procissão efectua-se um leilão de oferendas havendo uma banda de música a tocar. Efectua-se, também, uma quermesse. Há ainda serviço de restaurante e à noite realiza-se um baile com música.

• Círio de Santa Susana - Realizava-se, antigamente, um círio que partia do Bárrio e ia até ao Landal participar nas festas de Santa Susana. Este círio, embora já se tenha deixado de fazer desde meados dos anos setenta do século passado, é muito antigo. O círio saía do Bárrio e passava por Alcobaça, Évora de Alcobaça, Turquel, Benedita onde pernoitavam, Rio Maior e por aí fora até ao Landal. Saíam do Bárrio no dia 8 de Agosto de manhã e chegavam à Capela de Santa Susana (padroeira da terra) no dia 9 à tarde. Ficavam para o dia 10 e regressavam depois de rezada a Missa, feito o sermão alusivo a Santa Susana e benzido o gado. Segundo parece, o início deste círio teria acontecido depois de uma epidemia de gado em que a maior parte adoeceu. Fizeram então uma promessa que se algum escapasse iriam agradecer a Santa Susana, organizando uma romaria. Era uma romaria muito participada.

Neste ponto podem ver o cruzeiro que costumava de ser todo enfeitado com flores nas alturas destas festas e mesmo por trás, está a União Recreativa do Bárrio (URBA) que se empenha na difusão das vertentes desportivas e culturais.

No cruzeiro, estão as seguintes inscrições: "CAO M T8 AB CD - E". As primeiras inscrições são para ignorar, o que interessa são as que estão aqui a negrito. Por trás, na placa cinzenta escura comemorativa da URBA, está uma data (FG-H-IJKL). A Divisão por 2 da soma de D com G dá o valor de X, ou seja:

X = (D+G)/2

THE CELEBRATIONS - [PONTO4]

Formerly there were three major celebrations in this village, there are now only two.

• Feast of St. Gregory - On Sunday Pascoela held the feast of St. Gregory. It was said that this day was for the workers to rest a little. Solemn Mass is celebrated followed by a procession through the streets of the parish with litters of saints and focaccia. The streets are always adorned. There are also camp with many traditional games, folk groups and bands. This festival is held for decades.Formerly there were three major celebrations in this village, there are now only two.

• Feast of Our Lady of the Mission - This festival takes place on August 15. Previously on this day they used to bless the fields and are thank for the harvest of the year. Now, they celebrate a Mass followed by a procession where they incorporate several litters of saints and cakes. Following the procession carried out an auction of gifts having a band playing. Is carried out also a fair. There is also restaurant service and evening there will be a dance with music.

• Candle of Santa Susana - It was formerly a candle that left Bárrio and went to the Landal to participate in the festivals of Santa Susana. This candle, although it has not done since the mid-seventies of last century, is very old. The candle would start Bárrio, passed trough Alcobaça, Évora de Alcobaça, Turquel, Benedicta where he stayed overnight, Rio Maior and so on until the Landal. They would leave Bárrio on August 8 in the morning and arrived at the Chapel of Santa Susana (patron saint of the land) on day 9 in the afternoon. They stayed for 10 days and returned after the Mass, made a sermon commemorating the Santa Susana and cattle blessed. Apparently, the beginning of this candle would have happened after an epidemy in the cattle. They made a promise that if any escape they would like to thank Santa Susana, organizing a pilgrimage. It was a very participatory pilgrimage.

Here you can see the cruise that used to be all dressed up with flowers during these festivals and behind it, is the União Recreativa do Bárrio (URBA) that engages in the dissemination of sports and cultural aspects.

In the cruize, there are the following inscriptions: "CAO M T8 AB CD - E". You can ignore the firsts ones, the ones that really matter are in bold. Behing the cruize, at the dark grey commemorative plaque, there's a date (FG-H-IJKL). The sum D and G digits divided by 2 will be X:

A DOÇARIA - [PONTO3]

A gastronomia não pode deixar de ser mencionada e é precisamente a doçaria que distingue esta freguesia das restantes pertencentes ao concelho de Alcobaça. As Queijadas do Bárrio assumem-se como uma apetecida especialidade desta freguesia e sinceramente, eu até nem gosto de queijadas mas estas têm qualquer coisa de especial. Da história delas pode-se dizer que foi preciso olho pois a receita, muito antiga, já estava na família há muito tempo, mas ficou esquecida num cofre familiar, até que a actual herdeira dessa receita, a Dona Deonilde Correia, felizmente a encontrou e as queijadas do Bárrio voltaram à confecção, confecção esta que é feita na cozinha que está do lado oposto ao cruzeiro seguindo os moldes antigos, sem qualquer processo industrial a ajudar. Fica desde já o convite para provar esta deliciosa especialidade.

THE CONFECTIONARY - [PONTO3]

The food can not be overstated and it is precisely the sweets that distinguishes this parish from the other parishes of the municipality of Alcobaça. The Queijadas of Bárrio assumed as a coveted specialty of this parish and frankly I do not even like Queijadas but these have something special. Of their history it can be said that it was necessary a bit of luck: the recipe, very old, was already in the family for a long time, but was forgotten in a family safe until the present heir of that revenue, the Owner Deonilde Correia, fortunately found it and the queijadas returned to the cooking, this cooking is done following the old ways in the kitchen which is opposite the cruise, without any industrial process to help. You are hereby invited to taste this delicious specialty.

A cache encontra-se nas seguintes coordenadas:

N 39° 33.UVW W 009° 01.XYZ

Aconselho-vos a fazer a cache pela ordem numerada, ou seja, do ponto inicial na igreja, passando pelos pontos intermédios comendo/bebendo alguma coisa ou até mesmo uma queijada até ao sexto ponto na praça capitão Sousa Mendes e depois vão para as coordenadas finais. Estas vão dar a uns 500 metros do sexto ponto portanto se vos parecer longe, é porque está certo.

O ponto final leva-vos até um local onde se consegue ter uma boa vista sobre a aldeia do Bárrio, portanto desfrutem um bom bocado e aproveitem o ar limpo para passear. The cache is at the following coordinates:

I advise you to make the cache in the order numbered, ie, the starting point in the church, passing through intermediate points while eating / drinking something or even a queijada until the sixth point in the square Captain Sousa Mendes and then go to the final coordinates .
