Bâti au début du XVIe siècle (ou avant) ce donjon carré flanqué d'une tour d'escalier cylindrique est tout ce qui reste du château primitif. Si ce château nous apparaît aujourd’hui en contrebas de la route principale, il n’en domine pas moins la vallée du Sichon, et le village s’est développé tout autour. Le château a appartenu aux familles de Châtillon, puis de la Tour d’Auvergne, dont François II, le grand-père de Turenne, qui est né en ces murs.
Built in the early sixteenth century (or before) the square tower flanked by a cylindrical stair tower is all that remains of the original castle. If this castle seems now below the main road, it dominates the valley of no less Sichon, and the village grew around it. The castle belonged to the families of Chatillon and de la Tour d'Auvergne, with Francis II, the grandfather of Turenne, who was born in these walls.
