Geocache Description:

There is Ooka river floodway arrived at the sea.

The Ooka river floodway is used to pour water in the upstream region in Negishi-wan when it rains heavily, and to prevent the flood in the downstream region.
The Ooka river is a class B river of 14.04km in the total length and 27.25km2 in the valley area.
The start of the river is secondarily in Yokohama in high Mt.Enkai. It does from the mountain, and the disarranged water flows in Hitorizawa citizens' forests, goes out, joins the Hino river in Kami O-oka in Konan Ward, and is branch in Nakamura river and Horiwari river in the south district. The main stream in the Ooka river flows in the urban area of Hinode-cho and Noge on Naka Ward, and is poured into the Yokohama port in Minatomirai 21.
In the place where it was enclosed by the Ooka river and Nakamura river, there are an Isezaki-cho, Bashamichi, Chinatown, and Yokohama Stadium, and are a city office and a Prefectural government, Yokohama Customshouse, and Prefectural Police Headquarters, etc. It can be said that the Ooka river is a river that flows in striking to the heart in Yokohama. Ooka river joins the Hino river, in the place in which it went back to the upstream respectively at about 1km, there is an intake of the Ooka river floodway, and water is led to the floodway tunnel. There is about 3.6km total length of the floodway tunnel where Negishi-wan is connected from the Hino river. The Ooka river floodway flows to the sea for each Isogo Station through the tunnel from Sasasge post office and the Hino park graveyard to the underground. The sluice on a river is shut when the heavy rain and flood warning is announced officially, and the flow from the upstream flows to the floodway all. It is a role of the floodspillway to build the by-pass on the way of the river and to let water go in another route.
