Geocache Description:

Paved walking trail lakeside, through wooded area and prairie.

Cedar Lake is a 700 acre lake found inside the city limits of Nashua. It is used for the typical water sports year round. In the late 1980’s it was no more than a swamp with a river running through it due to an inoperable dam with low water and slow flow causing fill in of dirt and vegetation. In 1990 area residents raised money to dredge the lakebed, as well as purchase and refurbish the old hydro-electric dam which creates the lake. To celebrate the water once again filling the lake, the town now celebrates “Water over the Dam” Days in late June. All four town parks are found on this lake. The one where the cache is located, is at the north end of Lake Shore Drive on the east side of the lake, aptly named “Lake Shore Park”. During the summer months, especially on the weekend, this small park is where most of the jet skiers load and unload. It’s a quiet back bay just across the lake from the larger Cedar View Park. This is a re-birth of an old cache. I really enjoyed the location when I found it.
