Sweet Cache o' Mine Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

bobknot: Yep, sadly this one has gone. Looks like the bench has been knocked about a bit so may have come off in the process. Given the youth that seem to hang out here, I'm not planning to replace this one...

Geocache Description:

This simple puzzle cache is placed in homage to the world of Rock n Roll, in particular heavy metal.

From the late 60s with the likes of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, moving on into the 70s with Judas Priest and Motörhead, continuing into the 80s with Metallica and Bon Jovi and onwards, these influential bands have given us some awesome crunching guitar solos and loud, fast tunes to scream along and bang our heads to.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but they will take you to the War Memorial in Southwater's Lintot Square. A little bit of creative thought as to how this location could tie in with the theme of the cache may help you solve this puzzle (if you haven’t already).

The cache itself can be found nearby at N51 01.ABC W000 DE.FGH.

The values of ABCDEFGH can be derived from the opening riff of a #1 selling metal anthem in the US (#6 in the UK) whereby:

A = the first note minus 7 frets
B = the second note minus 15 frets
C = the third note minus 6 frets
D = the fourth note minus 10 frets
E = the fifth note minus 15 frets
F = the sixth note minus 5 frets
G = the seventh note minus 13 frets
H = the eighth note minus 10 frets

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com

For the lucky metaller who finds this first, there is a Flying V pin badge waiting for you (as made famous by Kerry King of Slayer)– pictured below.

So finally, to the above mentioned bands and so many more who have influenced generation after generation with their music, and emerging future artists who will go on to inspire more, I officially dedicate this cache to you (and to fellow geocacher 1sock)
