Geocache Description:

[LV] Sepnis atrodas pie Turku kapiem.
[ENG] The cache is located near Turkish cemetery.

[LV] Turku kapi atrodas Berzaine - Gaujas un Imantas ielas sturi. Te apglabati 1878. gada Cesis mirušie krievu - turku kara gustekni.
Šie kapi atziti par vienu no 100 neparastakajiem kulturas mantojumiem Latvija.
1937. gada par Turcijas konsula Riga pieškirtajiem lidzekliem tika izveidota pieminas vieta, uzbuvejot pieminekli. Kapus projektejis Karlis Dzirkalis.
Padomju varas laika kapi bija aizmirsti un nekopti. Vietejie berni šeit bija ierikojuši bmx trasiti.
2004./2005.gada kapu ansamblis tika rekonstruets par Turcijas vestniecibas pieškirtajiem lidzekliem.
Atjaunotos kapus atklaj 2005. gada sviniga ceremonija, kura piedalas Turcijas militarais orkestris.
Cesu pilsetu un kapus regulari apmekle Turcijas vestniecibas darbinieki, veicinot saprašanos starp dažadam tautam un kulturam.

[ENG] The Turkish cemetery is located in Berzaine - in Gaujas and Imantas street corner. Here are buried russian - turkish prisoners of war who died in 1878 in Cesis.
The cemetery has been approved to be one of the 100 most uncommon cultural heritages in Latvia.
In 1937 there was created a memorial site - monument from Turkish consul's in Riga alloted funds. The cemetery has been designed by Karlis Dzirkalis.
At the time of soviet-power the cemetery was forgotten and untended. Local kids had built a BMX track there.
In 2004/2005 cemetery ensemble was reconstructed. The renewed cemetery was opened in 2005 by a flourish of trumpets in which participated Turkish military orchestra.
Staff of Turkish embassy regulary visit Cesis city and cemetery to support understanding between various nations and cultures.
