Capela S.Miguel-Durrães

O culto de São Miguel já era conhecido no Ocidente desde o século VII e, no Oriente, já existia uma igreja célebre dedicada a este Anjo, no século V. Em Portugal, a referência mais antiga data de finais do século IX, com a fundação da igreja de S. Miguel do Paraíso (Concelho de Guimarães).
S. Miguel-o-Anjo é o orago mais popular – a seguir a S. Martinho – pois conta 55 Freguesias e algumas capelas da antiga diocese de Braga. Só no Vale do Neiva, o Arcanjo é patrono de duas igrejas e cinco capelas.
