MEGA Finland 2012: Geocaching in Turku Mega-Event Cache

Geocachers from every corner of the world are welcome to the second international Mega-Event in Finland. The event will be held in the City of Turku, from 3 to 5 August, 2012. Up to two thousand geocachers are expected to attend the event, making it the largest geocaching event ever organised in the Nordic countries.

Turku originates from the 13th century, and it is located on the mouth of the river Aura in one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the world. Historical and cultural Turku offers geocachers unparalleled multi-level experiences in a confined area. There are so many adventures to discover and enjoy in the Turku region, as well as more than 1000 geocaches to find.

Arriving in Turku is easy from all over the world. Both the airport and the sea-port are located very near to the city centre. The number of international low-cost flights is rising all the time and there are several daily connections by sea from Stockholm, Sweden. From within Finland Turku is most easy to reach by train or bus, which takes less than two hours from Helsinki or Tampere. The event venue will be Kupittaa Park, a recreational area only two kilometres from the heart of the city. Most of the event activities will take place in the area's Sports Arena aka GeoArena. In addition to the numerous attractions of the event itself, Kupittaa offers plenty of outdoor activities, including an Adventure Park for children. The price of an entrance ticket to participants of 15 years and over is 20 euros and 10 euros for participants of 12-14 years of age. For younger geocachers there's no entrance fee. All tickets are valid throughout the weekend.

Suomen toinen maailmanluokan geokätköilytapahtuma järjestetään elokuun ensimmäisenä viikonloppuna Turussa. Kaikki kätköilijät ystävineen ja perheineen joka niemestä, notkosta ja saarelmasta ovat tervetulleita tähän kenties Pohjoismaiden kaikkien aikojen suurimpaan megamiittiin. Luvassa on yllin kyllin kätköilyä ja muuta mukavaa meininkiä aina perjantaista sunnuntaihin.

Miitti pidetään hienossa Kupittaanpuistossa, parin kilometrin päässä Turun ydinkeskustasta. Tapahtuman keskuspaikka on GeoAreenaksi nimetty Kupittaan Urheiluhalli, joka täyttyy viikonlopun ajaksi geokansasta ja mitä moninaisemmasta ohjelmatarjonnasta. Lapsille järjestetään toimintaa myös viereisessä huippusuositussa Seikkailupuistossa.

Pääsylippujen ennakkomyynti päättyi heinäkuun puolessa välissä. Tapahtuman portilla myytävien lippujen hinnat ovat:

• 20 euroa 15 vuotta täyttäneiltä
• 10 euroa 12-14 -vuotiailta.

Alle 12-vuotiaille tapahtuma on kokonaan ilmainen. Kaikki liput ovat voimassa koko tapahtuman ajan.
