Groundspeak is celebrating the 1st International
Geocaching Day on 20th August 2011.
(See GC2RYVM.)
Here in South Africa, and more specifically Kwazulu-Natal, we
should celebrate with them.
The Lapa at Palmiet Nature
Reserve
This event will take place from 11h00 on Saturday 20
August in the Lapa and Braai area at Palmiet
Nature Reserve. Arrangements have been made with the
Palmiet NR OIC for exclusive use of the facility and she has
requested a small donation per attending team - a cache container
will be available for your donations and these will be handed in
after the event.
The published co-ordinates are for the braai area. Other
waypoints are listed for parking and for the lapa.
Please bring your own (m)eats and drinks, as well as half a bag
of charcoal. Fire(s) should be ready at about 12h30.
If anyone would like to bring a salad, please advise what salad
in your "Will Attend" log to avoid everyone bringing potato salad
or baked beans.
The event will end at about 15h30 - 16h00 so that those who want
to get home in time for the Tri-Nations game at 17h00 will be able
to do so. (The Sharks have a Friday evening game).
Groundspeak is producing a special icon for International
Geocaching Day, and this souvenir will be given to all who find a
cache or attend an event on this day.
This event is open to all geocachers and their families, no
matter how long you have been caching.
To really make this day special, please (if you wish
or can) place a cache for publishing the day after the
event.
