Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates - these mark the approximate spot on Raglan Road from which the photo of this parade at Inkerman Barracks was taken in the 1960s.

Royal Military Police Band on parade

19/10/2011: Originally this was a trickier 3* puzzle, but it has since been reworked as the first of the Knaphill History Lessons.

Back to school! The Knaphill History Lessons are a series of fairly easy caches intended to test your local knowledge ... and maybe more. There's no real puzzle solving involved - all of the required information can be found easily online. See the Bookmark List for other caches in the series.

Inkerman Barracks in Knaphill started life as the Woking Invalid Convict Prison, built in the middle of the 19th century. The prison was converted to house two battalions of infantry in 1892, and later became the home of the Royal Military Police.

The Corps vacated the site in 1965, and although the barracks were demolished in the 1970s, some of the original prison officers' quarters remain: the large houses at the bottom of Raglan Road (in the photo, above), and Wellington Terrace on Victoria Road.

To find the cache you will need to answer the following questions - here.

The cache is hidden in Inkerman Woods - where else!

Congratulations on the FTF to EL-JO.
