Bewbush Barn Church
The manor of Beaubusson was first mentioned in 1315
The Barn Church, Bewbush is Crawley's newest church.When the Bewbush neighbourhood was built in the 1980s, this 17th century barn was retained, and was later converted into the estate's Anglican church. Money was raised by the local church community over several years with the church opening in the late 1990s, and making one of the more interesting parish churches around. It is timber-framed with a dark weatherboarded exterior. Queen posts and tie beams support the roof, whose exterior is tiled.
The barn pre-dates the surrounding housing by several decades, however close by the church is another interesting building with some 17th Century elements remaining. Brick façades were added to all walls of this building in about 1850, hiding the original timber framing. The windows date from then, but some 17th-century internal features survive.
