Geocache Description:

Located in Trutch, B.C., one of British Columbia's "ghost towns".

This community was named after the first Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. Joseph Trutch held this position from 1871 to 1876. He was involved in the negotiations that led to British Columbia's entry into Canadian Confederation in 1871.

The Alaska Highway was re-aligned in the early 1970s and the new highway bypassed this community, which is now a "ghost town". The former gas station is somewhat visible as well as old household items such as stoves and bathtubs.

Be "bear aware" (pepper spray would be a good idea).
ALSO: Be careful not to drive further than the old service station. You may experience Peace River "gumbo" if it has been wet.
