In 2009 there was a magnificent addition to Dubuque in the form of the Veterans Memorial Plaza. The memorial honors those that have served and fallen for the United States dating from the Revolutionary War to the war in Afghanistan. Whether or not you have had a loved one or someone you know serve during war time, it is a moving experience to see the names that had given their lives in the name of our country.
It is located on Chaplain Schmitt Memorial Island in Dubuque, next to the Mystique Ice Center.
