Geocache Description:

Welcome to Hartwell which was a bit empty of caches so we decided to rectify the situation, by placing Hartwell North & Hartwell East.

Since our first two Weebly and Joflan placed their first cache Cache in My Pocket.

With North & East being active for a while it was time to add to the series.

This is an easy cache & dash, one of a number around the village, sorry they are all nanos.

The village has a population of approximately 1,800 people.

This is a historic village whose existence dates back to the Middle Ages at the south of the current village is the original village site, where a medieval chapel dedicated to St. John the Baptist survived until the mid 19th century. By the mid 16th century the original village had been entirely deserted and its site absorbed into a single farmstead named Chapel Farm.

The oldest surviving buildings in Hartwell all date from the 17th or early 18th century and are built of coursed rubble limestone.
