Geocache Description:

Heads of the Rivers Trek aka Walk on the Wild Side - The Sequel!

A trek of approx 11 miles around the heads of some of Dartmoor's greatest rivers. See the Tavy, West Dart, Walkham and Cowsic Rivers as little more than trickles.

Plan your route carefully around the bogs to find 16 caches, including 2 bonuses.

Heads of the Rivers Trek - No 2 Blackbrook Head

Possibly a straight line from No 1 might get you to the head of this tributary of the Cowsic River. But you are still only 1.3 miles into your walk!

This cache may contain part coordinates for the bonus cache: Heads of the Rivers Trek - Outward Bonus

Next cache in this series: Heads of the Rivers Trek - No 3 Prison Leat

IMPORTANT NOTE: Most of the caches in this series are within the Merrivale Military Range where live firing occurs. You must check out the Firing Notices before entering the range. DO NOT ENTER THE RANGE WHEN THE RED FLAGS ARE FLYING. Never pick up any metal objects, they may be unexploded devices.

The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map & compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT rely solely on your GPS.

Each cache has been rated individually up to a maximum terrain rating of 4.5. (You won't need to scuba dive, rock climb, kayak or swim! But DO keep an eye out for Dartmoor's bogs )

I would like to thank the Dartmoor National Park Authority for their kind permission to allow me to place this series of caches.
