Po miasteczku od lat krazyly legendy, ze pod tonami piasku na kopcu w Górznie znajduje sie palac biskupów plockich, którzy osiedlili sie tutaj przed laty. Prowadzone w 2006 r. wykopaliska nie potwierdzily autentycznosci tych opowiesci, ale archeolodzy natrafili pod kopcem na droge z czasów póznego sredniowiecza. Kolejnym miejscem, gdzie rozpoczeto poszukiwania "zaginionego" palacu byla polana w poblizu miejscowego kosciola. Znaleziono fragmenty murów oraz fundamentów, najprawdopodobniej z poczatku XIII w., co potwierdza, ze palac znajdowal sie na polance tuz obok swiatyni. Najprawdopodobniej zostal rozebrany, a materialu uzyto do budowy obecnego kosciola. Archeolodzy postanowili tez sprawdzic, co kryje sie w krypcie pod glównym oltarzem kosciola. Znaleziono w niej 6 trumien, wsród których stal ceglany grobowiec. Trumny byly pieknie zdobione, na dwóch udalo sie odczytac date - 1780 rok. Co ciekawe, w jednej z nich znaleziono niespotykana atrakcje, zmumifikowanego kota. Archeologów zaskoczyly dobrze zachowane fragmenty ubran znajdujace sie w trumnach. Kto wie, byc moze w Górznie jest wiecej tajemniczych miejsc, gdzie mozna byloby odnalezc slady historii...

After the town of legends have circulated for years that, under tons of sand on the mound in Górzno is the palace of bishops of Plock, who settled here years ago. In 2006 the excavations have not confirmed the authenticity of these stories, but the archaeologists came upon the mound on the way from the times of the late Middle Ages. Another place where the search began for the "lost" the palace was a clearing near the local church. Found fragments of walls and foundations, most likely from the early thirteenth century, which confirms that the palace was situated in a clearing next to the temple. Probably was demolished and the material used to build the present church. Archaeologists have also decided to see what is hidden in the crypt under the main altar of the church. Found in the six coffins, among which was a brick tomb. Coffins were beautifully decorated, the two managed to read the date - 1780 year. Interestingly, one of them found unusual attraction, mummified cat. Archaeologists surprised the well-preserved fragments of clothing found in coffins. Who knows, maybe in a more mysterious Górzno places where you would find traces of history ...
