Matonpesupaikka
Matonpesu ja mäntysuovan tuoksu kuuluu suomalaisen kesän aurinkoisiin päiviin. Varmaankin useimmista suomalaisista kunnista löytyy yksi tai useampi matonpesupaikka. Matonpesupaikoissa tuoksuu perinteinen mäntysuopa, mutta jätevesihuolto on niissä järjestetty ympäristöystävällisemmällä tavalla kuin laiturilla tai kesämökin rantakallioilla. Myös Nastolan kunta ylläpitää muutamia matonpesupaikkoja, joista yksi sijaitsee Villähteen Erstalla. Tämä matonpesupaikka sijaitsee Erstan uimarannan välittömässä läheisyydessä, toisella puolen tietä. Kesällä kätköilijän kannattaa siis ottaa uikkarit mukaan! Uimarannasta ja pukukopeista huolehtii vapaaehtoisvoimin toimiva Villähteen kyläyhdistys.
Kätkö on sinänsä helpohko, mutta kesäaikaan oman haasteensa tuovat paikalla ravaavat ahkerat matonpesijät. Voi olla, että jästien hämäämiseksi kannattaa ottaa oma matto mukaan.
A traditional summer activity in Finland is, as funny as it may sound, rug washing. Most Finnish municipalities offer their citizens one or more of these places, “Matonpesupaikka”, where people can go and wash their rugs and enjoy the summer sun. In these facilities, waste water is also taken care of in a better way than in the traditional “let’s just wash them on a cliff close to water” method. The traditional washing liquid, “Mäntysuopa”, liquid pine soap, is still the most popular detergent in rug washing. You will probably smell the scent if you visit the cache in the summertime. Nastola also has a few rug washing places, one of which is located in Ersta, Villähde. The cache is close (on the other side of the road) to a popular beach, so you might want to bring your swimming suit along in the summertime. The beach is taken care of by volunteers of the local village union.
The cache as such is rather easy, but if you come in the summertime, there will probably be people washing their rugs there. So you might want to bring your own rag rug along!
