Ces deux chênes quatre fois centenaires doivent leur appelation « NAPOLEON » à leur silhouette trapue et leur existence légendaire, identique à celle de l’Empereur des Français, Napoléon Ier.
Hauteurs respectives de 24 et 22 mètres, circonférence du tronc : 4,50 m et 5,85 m.
Ils sont restés les témoins vivants d’une ancienne forme d’exploitation forestière, le taillis sous futaie.
Ils ont intéressé quelques poètes locaux.
Ils font partie du sentier pédestre de l’Isch (circuit du Club Vosgien).
Napoleonic oaks
These two old oaks four times centenary owe their name "NAPOLEON" to their stocky figure and their legendary existence, identical to the French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte.
Respective heights : 24 and 22 meters, trunk circumference: 4.50 m and 5.85 m.
They are living witness of an old lumbering, a coppice.
They have interested some local poets.
They are part of the footpath Isch (Club Vosgien circuit).
