La chapelle de Domange, à Igé
en Bourgogne du sud, est mentionnée une première
fois dans une charte de Cluny en 953.
Nef, avant-choeur et travée sous clocher, c'est à dire les
parties actuelles les plus anciennes, datent de la seconde moitié
du XIème siècle, alors que l'abside aurait été
construite dans la seconde moitié du XIIème siècle.
Aux environs de 1410, au sud de l'avant-choeur, la chapelle de
Notre-Dame de la Pitié est élevée par le seigneur de Chabotte et sa
femme. Toutes les fenêtres, sauf celles de l'abside, sont
remplacées, avec vitraux en grisaille, en 1866.
La chapelle a été classée Monument Historique en 1938 et
désacralisée en 1971.
Une restauration démarrée en 2007 a restitué à l'édifice toute
sa beauté (notamment le toit en lauze).
La chapelle a obtenu une mention spéciale aux Rubans du
patrimoine.
The
Romanesque Domange Chapel can be seen from afar thanks to its high
bell tower and location on a hill.
The chapel is named after the hamlet of Domange and has
vineyards on three sides.
Thanks to a refurbishment in 2006 the chapel is in good
shape and is worth a stop if you are nearby.
The chapel was first mention in 953 in a document from
nearby Cluny. The nave, choir and crossing were built in the latter
half of the 11th century. The apse was rebuilt in the fist part of
the 12th century. Typical of local Romanesque churches, Domange
Chapel has Lombard Bands on its bell tower.
The chapel was declared a national monument in 1938 and is
in the village of Igé in Southern Burgundy, the department of
Saône-et-Loire.

- soit suivre la route pour contourner la chapelle par le
nord
- soit marcher à travers les vignes pour la contourner par le
sud.
Après environ 400 m de marche, vous trouverez la cachette depuis
laquelle la chapelle de Domange vous tournera le dos !

- or walk through the vineyards to get around the
south.
