The Kirby Town Forest was named after the late State
Representative Tom Kirby of Pelham. He promoted the idea of the
forest management plans now used to encourage wildlife and forest
growth in most of Pelham Conservation Lands. The Ivers family have
been long term residents of Pelham and wanted to see their land
preserved, not developed.
