The Motte Stone Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

gcvoyagers: Unfortunately things did not work out as I had hoped, so this cache will not be replaced and I can no longer maintain it :(

If some local Irish cacher would like place a cache here, I think it would be really great, since it really is a lovely location. Thanks to everyone who has been here and greetings to all Irish geocachers.

Geocache Description:

The fabled Motte Stone, a remnant of the last ice age, perches on the summit of the 800-foot high Croneblane Ridge. A single, solid quartzite boulder, it oversees the Wicklow Mountains and five of the counties of Ireland. Measuring nearly three metres in diameter, local legend suggests that the Motte Stone is not the result of glacial erosion, but that it belonged to a local giant. The view from the stone is incomparable: on a clear day!

Motte Stone

I used to be up here all the time as a child. The parking place has been closed since and now you can only park on the lane to it. Please walk up the little rest of the hill ... it is not too far.

Cache will be serviced by (aspen13 ... who is local)
