Jättegrytor finns lite varstans i Sverige och andra länder. Förr trodde man att dessa gropar i berget var jättarnas grytor. Nu vet man bättre.

En jättegryta definieras som en cylindrisk eller rännformig utsvarvning i fast berg. De bildades under den senaste istiden genom att isälvarnas vatten satte sten och grus i rörelse. I virvlarna som skapades malde stenen och gruset en nedsänkning i berget. Stenen kallas för löpare och i en del jättegrytor finns den kvar.

Grytorna bildades under istiden då Sverige var täckt av ett tjockt islager.

Grytan ingår i en kategori offerkällor, vilka bär helgonet Olofs namn. Det är här Pilgrimsleden i Klarälvdalen börjar. Pilgrimerna kom med båtar över Vänern och offrade mynt i offerkällan av tacksamhet över att ha klarat sjöfärden. Därefter begav man sig till Hammarö kyrka, i vars närhet man kunde övernatta, för att sen fortsätta pilgrimsfärden med Nidaros/Trondheim som mål.

Potholes exist in several places in Sweden and in other countries. In Swedish folklore this holes in the rock was a stew to the ancient giants that once lived in the area.

A pothole is a circular hole in the rock. They were formed during the last ice age by glacial river water(Isälv) sat stone and gravel in motion. The vortices created grinding stone and gravel to an immersion in the rock. The stone is called the runner(Löpare) and in some potholes they still exists.

The pothole is in a category, offer places, who bears St Olof's name. This is where the Pilgrim's way in Klarälvdalen begins. The pilgrims arrived by boats across Lake Vänern and sacrificed coins and other small things as a proof of gratitude for having passed the way over sea.
Then they went to Hammarö church, where they spent the night, to then continue the pilgrimage to Nidaros /Trondheim.
