POMAYROLS – Randonnée au calvaire
La commune est adossée aux premiers contreforts de l'Aubrac, sur le versant sud de la haute vallée du Lot, entre les villes de Saint-Laurent-d'Olt et Saint-Geniez-d'Olt.
Les pentes autrefois cultivées ont fait place aux bois de chênes ou de châtaigniers entrecoupés de prairies naturelles. Sur les hauteurs, les landes de bruyères ont progressivement été remplacées par de vastes prairies et des champs de céréales.
En 1905 la commune a acheté la partie du château située à l'Est et la tour attenante. Elle y a aménagé en 1911 une école publique au rez-de-chaussée, les logements des instituteurs au 1er étage. Dans la tour: la mairie.
En 1986, cette partie a été entièrement rénovée et reconvertie en salles de réception et en logements de location. Une pièce d'angle abrite un musée où est exposée une remarquable collection d’outils agricoles d'autrefois.
Aujourd'hui, malgré les cicatrices de l'histoire et les remaniements successifs, l'ensemble à toujours bonne allure, bien que pas encore protégé au titre des monuments historiques le château avec ses deux hautes tours reste un témoin toujours debout de l'Histoire du Haut-Rouergue.
Chapelle du calvaire
Sa façade se découpe sur la crête de la colline à quelques centaines de mètres du bourg de Pomayrols.
En 1788, Marie et Christine Massabuau la firent construire à leurs frais et sur un terrain leur appartenant.
En ruine un siècle après, elle fut relevée en 1880 par les habitants du village (propriétaires de l’édifice) En 1988, lors de son bicentenaire, elle fut restaurée à l’initiative de l'amicale parisienne.
The commune is leaned with the first buttresses of Aubrac, on the southern slope of the high valley of the Lot river, between the cities of Saint-Laurent d'Olt and Saint-Geniez-d'Olt.
The formerly cultivated slopes made place with the wood of oaks or chestnuts intersected with natural meadows.
On the heights, the moors of heathers were gradually replaced by vast meadows and fields of cereals.
In 1905 it sells with the commune the part located at the East and the contiguous tower. It will arrange there a public school at the ground floor, the residences of the teachers to the 1er stages. In the tower: the town hall. In 1986, this part was entirely renovated and reconverted in rooms of reception and residences of hiring. A part of angle shelters a museum where a remarkable collection of agricultural tools of formerly is exposed.
Today, in spite of the scars of the History and the successive rehandlings, the whole with always good pace, although not yet protected with the title from the historic buildings the castle with its two high towers remains a witness always upright of the History of High Rouergue.

Its frontage cuts out on the peak of the hill to a few hundred meters of the borough of Pomayrols.
It was built in 1788 by the Marie and Christine Massabuau. In ruin one century afterwards, it was raised in 1880 by the inhabitants of the village (owners of the building) In 1988, at the time of its bicentenary, it was restored on the initiative of the Parisians friendly society.
